We don't like to see anything good go to waste. When our Swiss neighbour and legendary manufacturer of freeride ski skins, Pomoca, a maker of legendary plush skiing skins wanted to find a use for non-recyclable waste, we couldn’t resist collaborating with them.

We decided to combine our efforts to make one uniquely Swiss slipper. Together we upcycled the cuttings into durable and versatile bottoms for a limited series slippers that embody our mission of making a positive impact and delivering the most comfortable wool footwear.

The grip-and-glide bottoms are great for sliding across wood floors while the felted wool uppers are perfect for slipping into something more comfortable. Each sole is randomly crafted from Pomoca’s seven shades of skins so you’re in for a colorful surprise when you open the box. Don’t worry, no matter what style you get you’ll be going green with these unique and comfortable, eco-friendly slippers.

Caution: Pomobuk soles are made with a material that can be slippery on some surfaces. We recommend standard Mel styles for customers who desire more stable support

Natural wool

We make our felted wool slippers the traditional way: by hand using only 100% New Zealand wool, soap, and water. This gives them that light coziness that makes anywhere you wear them feel like home.

The more you love and wear them, the more they mold to your feet – giving you an individual fit that’s as personal as our time-honoured manufacturing process perfected by our team of artisans in Nepal.

Padded insoles

Made from wool felt for added durability, these insoles are also padded for ultimate comfort and removable for convenience and a custom fit. The wool’s natural moisture wicking and antimicrobial qualities also help to reduce sweat and odour, keeping your feet feeling fresh wear after wear.

The first pair of insoles comes with your slippers. Replacement insoles are available in a variety of colours. We recommend changing insoles regularly for added comfort and hygiene.

Ski felt soles

The up-cycled off-cuts from Pomoca’s legendary skiing skins work perfectly as slippers soles. Not only do they put the slip in slippers, giving that enjoyable sock-sliding feel on wooden floors, they’re also as eco as they come. They’re hand-sewn along the edge of the slippers for extra protection against wear and tear and to avoid uncomfortable seams for maximum longevity and comfort.

I chose the Pomobuk Slippers as the soles are from recycled material, so liked that idea. Care FAQ

Pomobuk is produced reusing manufacturing offcuts from ski skins, short upcycled material. We receive one colour at each charge from our fellow swiss ski brand Pomoca and produce a charge slipper with that. So the sole colours we have in stock depend on what colour was available at the moment of production. That's why we can not guarantee the color of the sole you will receive. We wanted to stick to our responsibility with the planet and generate as little waste as possible. In the end, that's the fun in this upcycled and unique slippers! For optimal care, we recommend handwashing Baabuk slippers. Washing machines, aggressive soaps, and chemicals/alcohols may damage the natural soles.

You can simply clean the wool with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or dust. Do not put slippers near any heat source to dry, as doing so may damage the natural latex sole.

The sole can be effectively cleaned using bicarbonate of soda and an old toothbrush. For detailed instructions on cleaning the sensitive latex soles, please refer to our video tutorial.

If your Baabuk slippers have gotten wet, simply remove and dry at room temperature. Avoid putting them in a dryer. The wool will not get damaged by water and will not shrink, as the raw material has already been washed and felted.

We recommend using insoles to increase the longevity of the slipper and provide extra comfort. But they’re not necessary – all slipper styles can be worn without insoles.

If you choose to wear your slippers with insoles, we recommend replacing them after prolonged use for optimal hygiene and to increase the durability of the slippers. Find replacement insoles here, or take a look at our subscription offer.
