Baabuk featuring Steve Ravussin

Today is be the last day of our third Kickstarter campaign, the BAABUK UNISEX WOOL BOOT, and we would like to thank all our backers for the 55K CHF raised! Thank you for your support and thank you for bringing our project to life!

We would like to share with you something that happened to us when we were working hard on the boot project: an unordinary story… or we might even say, an extraordinary story!

November 2016, we received a phone call from Mover (Swiss company specialised in Ski gear and thin merino wool sportswear) in the middle of a regular workday: “Hey guys! Just wandering… do you know Mike Horn? We would like to work with you to make the warmest boot possible to go in Antarctica, would you be in?”.

A few days later, a group of people visited us in our office and were looking for wool boots to go on an expedition. But not just any expedition… It was the Pole 2 Pole expedition conducted by Mike Horn. An adventure that led Mike and his entire team across the globe, linking the two globes! Mike Horn needed wool boots to cross the south pole both by foot and the team needed to sail the boat without having their toes freezing. Regarding the boot that Mike Horn was to wear during his expedition, we worked hand in hand with Dahu, a Swiss company specialised in innovative ski boots.

We equipped the team in no time with the prototypes we could offer.

Last week, Steve Ravussin (sailor on the Pole 2 Pole expedition) came back to Switzerland, willing to share his experience and memories with us. One of these memories being... the Baabuk Boots!
